Day 1
- Reflect on an area of your life where you struggle to let God be God, an area where you cannot fathom how you would obey God if he asked you to let it go.
- Write about what you feel might be at the root of that struggle.
Day 2
- Read Psalm 96:1-9
- Reflect back on what you wrote from Day 1 in light of the words from Psalm 96. Write about what might change in that area of your life if you let God in.
Day 3
- In the book of Nehemiah, we read the story of God’s people returning to the Promised Land and rebuilding. They both celebrate and mourn. They remember their history, the good and the bad. Read Nehemiah 9: 9-21.
- Write your faith journey in a similar summary form.
Day 4
- Continue to reflect on Israel’s history as recounted in Nehemiah 9. Read again verses 20 & 21.
- Think about how, on the day Israel gathered to have a festival in honor of the golden calf, that morning, they had gone out and gathered the manna that would feed them for that day.
- Reflect on the past week or month and write about the faithful, regular provisions God has provided, that the routines of life cause us to overlook.
Day 5
- Reflect back over what you’ve written this week and write a prayer to God. In your prayer include:
- Surrender
- Lament
- Declaration of God’s faithfulness
- Thanksgiving
- Praise
